Anderson v1 pg304-305 - letter #293

                                                             P.P

Herr Stoll has requested me to be security for him to you for four louis d’or which you are graciously willing to advance him. – He proposes to give you a cheque on his pay from the Emperor Napoleon.  So, after you have looked into the matter and convinced yourselves of the importance of the transaction, you will be able to inform me whether you can and will accept my security –

Having experienced in every respect your cordial friendship and kindness, I am convinced that when detecting the disadvantage, I am convinced that when detecting the disadvantage which you may possibly suffer in such a transaction, you will make a point of informing me too, as I know absolutely nothing about the affair. But if, as the skipper expresses it, you find the papers in order, I am willing to be security immediately for the four louis d’or. –

With kind regards, your most obedient servant
